Kit 119007 – Engine Application Compatibility – Carb LS Engine Ignition
SmartSpark™ Carb LS Engine Ignition supports carbureted GM LS V8 engines with either a 24x or 58x tooth crank trigger wheel.
- 24x LS engines: LS1/LS6/LQ4 and LS2(2005) – Requires Harness 119002 or 119003 (see below)
- 58x LS engines: LS3/LS7/LS9 and LS2(2006) – Requires Harness 119005
- SmartSpark Ignition Module 119001 is compatible with all 24x and 58x engines.
Recommended Part Numbers for 58x LS Engines (LS7/LS3/LS9 and 2006 LS2)
All 58x engines, utilize Ignition Module Harness 119005 and SmartSpark Carb LS Engine Ignition Module 119001. Choose from 58x specific kits: 119075 or 119175.
Important Considerations for LS 24x Engines and Aftermarket Camshafts:
If your 24x LS engine uses an aftermarket camshaft, it’s essential to convert to a front-mounted cam sensor to avoid potential issues. Front-mounted 24x LS cam sensor engines require kit 119073 or 119173 and module harness 119003.
- 119002 harness and kits 119072 or 119172: Compatible only with the stock LS1 cam and rear cam sensor.
- Note: If you use an aftermarket camshaft with the LS1 rear cam sensor, irregular timing issues may occur. Therefore, to address this, consider switching to the GM front-mounted cam sensor along with a GM 3-bolt 24x timing gear, and utilize our front-mounted module harness 119003.
- 119003 harness and kits 119073 or 119173: Compatible with ALL stock and aftermarket LS1 camshafts. This setup requires the GM front-mounted cam sensor timing cover, sensor bracket, and 3-bolt 24x gear.
- All 24x LS engines utilize SmartSpark Carb LS Engine Ignition Module 119001.
Parts Required To Convert from a LS1 Rear-Mount to Front-Mounted LS1 Cam Sensor:
- Combo Part Includes the GM Timing Cover, Cam Sensor and Cam Sensor Bracket (GM PN 12633906)
- GM 3-bolt 24x Timing Gear (GM PN 12576407)

SmartSpark Installation Requirements – Carb LS Engine Ignition:
Each SmartSpark module installation requires: one smart spark module, three harnesses, eight LS ignition coils and optional Windows PC.
- 1x SmartSpark Module (PN 119001). SmartSpark Module is user configurable as a carb LS engine ignition for all LS ignition coils and all 24x and 58x LS engines.
- 1x Module-specific Harness (PN 119002, 119003 [24x only], or 119005 [58x only]). Each harness part number has a specific engine fitment.
- 2x Ignition Coil Harnesses (one per engine side). Be sure to choose the harnesses that matches the connector on your ignition coils (LS1 or LS2).
- OE GM LS2 Specific Ignition Coil Harness Part Number: (GM PN 12579355)
- 8x SmartSpark HO LS2 Coils (PN 119100-8) work with all LS engines when used with the OE GM LS2 Ignition Coil Harness.
- 1x Windows PC (Optional; you only need a PC and USB adapter for advanced SmartSpark Ignition Module configuration)
Recommended LS Ignition Coils and Coil Harness:
- Use SmartSpark HO LS2 Coils (PN 119100-8) on all 24x and 58x LS engines when combined with two OE GM LS2 Ignition Coil Harnesses (GM PN 12579355).
- You can also upgrade LS1 coils to SmartSpark HO LS2 Coils (PN 119100-8) for significantly improved ignition performance (requires two GM Coil Harness 12579355).
