leadership team
The JMS Daytona Group leadership team is comprised of industry pioneers with decades of experience in: manufacturing, electronics design, conformance testing and automotive calibrations software.
Chris Johnson
CEO (since 1993)
For over 34 years, Chris Johnson has focused on creating innovative products and brands in the light truck and automotive aftermarket.
Today, we continue that focus at JMS, with an emphasis on electronics, calibration, and vehicle integration.
Between 1989 and 2003, Chris held several engineering positions at AT&T Bell Labs, the US Government, Lucent Technologies Bell Labs, and Avaya. During this time, we built a strong foundation in advanced electronics, systems design, and large-scale manufacturing environments.
After leaving Lucent Bell Labs and Avaya in 2003, Chris formed Superchips Custom Tuning. SCT was launched as a joint venture to develop calibration software and hardware for Ford, GM, and Chrysler vehicles, helping define the modern performance tuning market.
By late 2007, Chris had partnered with a private equity group to support and accelerate SCT’s growth, expanding product offerings, distribution, and OEM relationships.
Following a transition to a new private equity partner in 2013, SCT acquired BullyDog and rebranded the company as Derive, further strengthening our position in performance electronics and vehicle calibration technology.
JMS was founded in 1993 while Chris was still working at AT&T Bell Labs, originally focused on advanced electronic design and manufacturing.
Today, we engineer specialized electronic solutions for automotive, powersports, and fleet applications, providing both product development and manufacturing services for several Tier 1 vehicle suppliers and OEMs. Our products and designs are known for reliability, regulatory compliance, and real-world performance.
Past and current customers include Ford, Roush, TI Automotive, TI Fluid Systems, Derive, Edelbrock, DynoJet and Harley-Davidson.
At JMS, we continue to apply decades of hands-on engineering experience to deliver solutions that meet OEM standards, satisfy regulatory requirements, and perform reliably in real-world conditions.
